I am sure many of you are wondering why is the stock price down if the Q2 beat was very good. This was a great Quarter given what is happening in the Aerospace industry the reason RTX is trading down today is because the Q2 Beat was driven by implimented cost cutting measures rather then organic profit growth but CEO Greg Hayes nailed the Quarter. AS stated by CEO Greg Hayes "The RTX balance sheet remains strong and the resiliency of our defense business will help RTX weather this storm as we continue to capitalize on growth opportunities supported by our record backlog. I am confident that our balanced portfolio and advanced technologies will position us for long-term value creation as the global economy recovers."

Raytheon Technologies (RTX +1.2%) opens higher, bouncing off a seven-week low, after Vertical Research upgrades shares to Buy from Hold with a $77 price target, citing valuation and an anticipated recovery in the aerospace industry. Vertical's Robert Stallard says it could be a bit early to buy an aerospace name for a recovery, as he has not yet seen a set of actual numbers for the merged company and investors appear unsure whether the company is an aerospace or defense company. "As a result, we think this has created a decent risk/reward set-up at the current price," prompting the upgrade to Buy," Stallard says. RTX's average Wall Street analyst rating and Seeking Alpha Authors' Rating are both Bullish.

The heavy optimism over recertification tests appears short-lived as Boeing (NYSE:BA) pares a third of the 18% rally seen Monday, with the stock falling over 6% in early trade. What happened? Norwegian Air was the latest carrier to cancel an order for 92 MAX planes and sued Boeing for compensation over the jet's grounding. Orders for more than 100 737 MAX planes were already canceled in April and more than 300 have come off the books in 2020. Boeing suppliers are also getting pinched: Spirit AeroSystems (SPR -8.3%), Triumph Group (TGI -9.1%), Hexcel Structures (HXL -2.5%), Howmet Aerospace (HWM -1.5%), Heico (HEI -1.6%), TransDigm (TDG -1.6%), Collins Aerospace (RTX -1.8%), Ducommun AeroStructures (DCO -1.4%), BAE Systems Platform Solutions (OTCPK:BAESY -2.1%). Update: Hong Kong's BOC Aviation (OTC:BCCVY) announces an order cancellation for 30 737 MAX planes.

Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems (NYSE:RTX) has drawn a $2.27B sole-source contract to supply Saudi Arabia under the Foreign Military Sales program. It will provide seven Army/Navy Transportable Surveillance and Control Model 2 radars, radar spares, obsolescence design, sustainment services and initial contractor logistics support for Saudi Arabia. Work will be performed in Woburn, Mass., and the performance period runs to Aug. 31, 2027.
