In den vier Jahren, in denen ich investiere, habe ich noch nie den Einfluss rechtlicher Aspekte auf eine amerikanische Investition erlebt.

The New Laptops Are Here, and They Don’t Have Intel or AMD Inside By Bill Alpert Published: July 9, 2024 at 5:18 p.m. ET The new AI-optimized PCs run on Qualcomm chips. Photo: David Paul Morris/Bloomberg Beware Intel. The CoPilot+ laptops shown in May at Microsoft’s artificial-intelligence rollout are now on store shelves. These AI-optimized PCs run on Qualcomm chips, and they could give the company its first real shot at the computer processor market. CoPilot+ laptops can be had for $1,000 and up, from a variety of manufacturers that include Microsoft, Dell Technologies, HP , Acer, Asus, Lenovo, and Samsung. They have been publicized for their hardware chip that accelerates AI-applications like Microsoft’s CoPilot, but until AI apps come into widespread use, they’ll be more prized for their long battery lives. The main processor in all these laptops is the Snapdragon X Elite, which is a team effort. The Qualcomm chip uses circuits licensed from Arm Holdings, which runs Microsoft Windows while draining less battery power than chips from Intel or Advanced Micro Devices . With over 16 hours of activity from a charge, the CoPilot+ PCs can compete with the ultramarathon battery life of an Apple MacBook. An obstacle to adoption of PCs running Arm-based processors has been the limited catalog of Windows applications optimized for the chips. That catalog has grown, but is still missing some popular apps from publishers such as Adobe Systems. The speed of the Snapdragon still enables it to get decent performance from many non-optimized applications. https://www.marketwatch.com/articles/copilot-pc-microsoft-qualcomm-intel-amd-1317c229?mod=mw_quote_news_seemore

YES: 'The supposed positive for Intel from the era of AI has been the opportunity to provide chips for a new cycle of personal-computer sales, powered by the new technology. Intel has shipped more than 15 million of its first AI PC chips, named Meteor Lake, and is confident it will have 40 million units shipped by the end of 2024. However, at the moment it appears that Intel is spending more on manufacturing Meteor Lake chips than expected, lowering its margins. Moor Insights & Strategy analyst Patrick Moorhead said Intel appears to have a yield issue, meaning it is producing more defective chips than expected, in a post on social-media site X. Aus dem Transcript Q2 Intel. x86 competitor ist das AMD oder Qualcomm?: 'Operator Certainly. Then, our final question for today comes from the line of Matt Ramsay from TD Cowen. Your question, please. Matt Ramsay -- Analyst Yeah, good afternoon. Thank you, guys. I guess my first question is on the client space. I think, Dave, you might have mentioned client flat to down in September. I think your primary x86 competitor is going to be up double digits, or I think they mentioned above seasonal, however you quantify seasonal now. Maybe you could give us a little color there. There's lots of maybe noise in the system about ARM coming into the client market. I think that impact would be more modest relative to what you described.'

'Qualcomm’s guidance for the third quarter is a range between $9.5 billion and $10.3 billion in revenue, the midpoint of which implies a 14% increase year-over-year. If this holds, Qualcomm revenue could come within 20%-25% of Intel’s — previously unthinkable. '

'It’s more than fair to ask at this point what Intel can do to recover? First, it needs two products to succeed in the next 12 months: Lunar/Panther Lake and Gaudi 3. The first set are the key leadership products for the client business that will accelerate AI performance and dramatically increase graphics performance for consumer and commercial laptops. Intel needs these to not simply sustain its customer base, but to excite and entice them to buy new and buy at higher prices, to improve margins and keep competition from AMD and Qualcomm at bay. '

Sind die Probleme von Intel teilweise auf die Konkurrenz mit Qualcomm zurückzuführen? 'Also, Intel has shipped more than 15 million of its first “AI PC” chips, codenamed Meteor Lake, and is confident it will have 40 million units shipped by the end of 2024. That’s a huge milestone and dwarfs what AMD or Qualcomm could hope to do in the same time frame. But that’s where the good news ends. Unfortunately, Gelsinger indicated that the yields, or how effectively the production of the chips can be, for Meteor Lake were poor. Intel had to spend more on manufacturing per chip than expected, lowering margins. Lunar Lake is set to launch next month, improving performance and power efficiency for Intel’s entry into Microsoft’s new Copilot+ PC category.' https://www.fool.com/earnings/call-transcripts/2024/08/01/intel-intc-q2-2024-earnings-call-transcript/?source=djc&utm_source=djc&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=article&referring_guid=0972819a-2868-46bd-a091-9c4bef2c47c2&mod=mw_quote_news
