Raiffeisen to launch crypto trading for retailers in January Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI) will launch a cryptocurrency trading service for retail customers starting in January, Curt Chadha, the bank's head of innovation, said in an interview with Coindesk. According to the bank's representative, the service will be available first for customers in Vienna, and it will be offered linked to the crypto exchange Birpanda, which signed a letter of intent with Raiffeisen earlier this year. "The customer can use their mobile device to enter Bitpanda through the Raiffeisen app. The experience will be familiar, so confirming a trade will work exactly like an account-to-account bank transfer with the same sort of security customers are used to," Chada added. Raiffeisen, which has around €207 billion in total assets as of 2022, is one of the leading corporate and investment banks in Austria as well as Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). For its part, Bitpanda was founded in Vienna in 2014 and is under the supervision of the FMA in Austria and Germany's BaFin.
