Mal sehen wie es weiter geht?
Der US-Kongress hat einen befürchteten Stillstand der Regierungsgeschäfte nur kurz vor Ablauf der Frist voraussichtlich abgewendet. Der Senat billigte am Samstagabend (Ortszeit) einen Übergangshaushalt, der einen sogenannten Shutdown verhindert. US-Präsident Joe Biden setzte dies im Anschluss mit seiner Unterschrift in Kraft. Der Überbrückungshaushalt von 45 Tagen enthält keine Hilfen für die von Russland angegriffene Ukraine. Bidens Demokraten unterstützten den Gesetzesentwurf daher zähneknirschend, um einen Shutdown noch zu verhindern. Der Streit um den Haushalt hat die tiefe Spaltung der Republikaner offengelegt.
