Morgan Stanley, in a research report, remarked that BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) vehicle profitability continues to advance, with record sales volume. The broker viewed that this should support the company's solid 3Q results, but fail to surprise the market. The market was aware of the industry's competitive landscape that is going to deteriorate into 2H, exerting enormous sales and pricing pressure on all OEMs, including BYD. In addition, Morgan Stanley assumed that, as guided by BYD's chairman, investors are pursuing for economies of scale and greater savings in battery materials, giving BYD some resilience against the 3Q headwinds. However, it may be an uphill battle for BYD to maintain its uptrend in car sales and gross margins.
