Wahnsinn wie schnell BYD die Verbenner in China vom Hof jagd. Beim Gewinn darf man 2024 keine großen Sprünge YOY erwarten. Das Geschäft läuft weiterhin sehr gut, der Kurs wird bei den Gewinnen wohl kaum Richtung ATH gehen.

#BYD Denza N7 launched a time-limited promo. Buyers between Feb 18th and 25th, 2024, get 50k RMB off.
Official price: 301,800-379,800 RMB.
After discount: 251,800-329,800 RMB, a 15% discount.
The N7 was launched last July, and its performance has been poor over the past six months. Monthly sales have gradually declined.

BYD able to cut px this yr due to lower Li px as well as industrialization of battery, E3.0, CTB, DM-i
LFP cell px dropped ~400RMB/kWh since Q4 2022. Overall savings including all battery pack costs ~ 450
I calculated savings for various BYD models
31 kWh Seagull can px <60k
45 kWh Dolphin can px < 100k
LR Seal can px < 220k
LR Song L px @ 230k due to these fact
ofc, battery is just part of the equation
Qin+ DM-i can save 4k on just battery
Rest of px cut from industrialization of DM-i, older/paid for/efficient production line & other reasons
But it's important to think that when BYD makes these px cuts, it comes from significant lower material costs, strong negotiating position vs suppliers & industrialization of its own parts production/final assembly
Since battery cell px expect to drop further by 2025, NEVs will just keep getting cheaper

Qin+ DM-i/EV px have been unveiled
DM-i range from 79.8-125.8k vs 99.8k-145.8k last yr
EV now start @ 109.8K vs 129.8k last yr
All models are down 20k RMB across the board
both DM-i/EV are now very competitive vs ICE
Goal here is to eliminate legacy JV compact sedans
BYD will not stop here
I anticipate 10-15k cuts for Seagull & Dolphin

Carfans Market Report for February:
Market Movements:
1.Reports suggest that store inflows were robust during the Chinese New Year, with the return of new energy vehicles sparking a trend of test drives.
2.Similar to the previous year, customers entering stores are preparing for purchases in April-May. The high store inflow did not translate into increased orders in February. Customers with strong intent to purchase are waiting for new models launching in March.
Brand Performance:
1.No brand has set a sales target for February. As of February 18, the order numbers for the month are on par with a steady week in a regular month.
2.Li Auto recorded 11-12k orders as of February 18. Older models are being cleared, and price discounts are affecting AITO and Tesla.
3.AITO received 8-9k orders as of February 18. The advertising during the Spring Festival Gala has had a positive impact. The M9 model has seen a significant increase in store inflow and production, with daily production set to reach 400 units this week.
4.BYD received 50-55k orders as of February 18, with no decrease in discounts. The Honor version was released today, setting off an evident trend towards a price war.
Notes: Apart from AITO (with 80-90K back orders), no brand is experiencing order backlogs, prompting the rapid launch of new models. Carfans anticipates a severe price war in March.

The BYD Qin PLUS Honor edition is expected to launch early next week at RMB79,800 ($11,000).
This move has ramifications on so many fronts:
1. First big "price cut" in the Year of the Dragon;
2. Counterattack on A-segment leaders Lavida, Sylphy and Corolla, throwing down the gauntlet for ICEVs in that segment;
3. Give room for the upcoming Qin L which is slotted between the Qin PLUS and Han and expected to be priced at around RMB100K;
4. Force Seagull prices to drop into the RMB60Ks;
