The Gangwon 2024 Organising Committee will deploy the main operating platforms for this year's Winter Youth Olympic Games, such as staff management and ticketing systems, on Alibaba Cloud's secure and expandable cloud infrastructure, as announced by Alibaba Cloud. The Committee will also build a staff and volunteer management (SVM) platform to enhance efficiency and support innovative solutions such as digital torch and live broadcast cloud technology, which are expected to bring an unique digital experience to the public. To further assist the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in advancing the digitalization process, Alibaba Cloud applied its latest cloud technology to the 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games. In addition to enhancing operational efficiency through the deployment of staff management and ticketing platforms, Alibaba Cloud also leveraged the stability, flexibility and scalability of cloud computing to ensure that service stability is maintained in high-traffic scenarios such as ticket sales events and on-site ticket inspection. It is expected that the ticketing system will be able to serve 460,000 audiences in 14 days.

Alibaba Cloud, a subsidiary of BABA, held a PolarDB developer conference in Beijing today (17 Jan) and released a new version of its cloud-native database, which is the industry's first cloud-native database to support a three-tier separation form. The update aims to provide users with a more efficient and economical database solution. The new version of PolarDB can help users save up to 50% of database costs. At the same time, the new version can dramatically improve the level of intelligent decision-making in the database by accessing the big language model, and improve the performance of IO-dependent queries by 10 times.
