.M Stanley: Alibaba (BABA.US) CEO Eddie Wu Leads 2 Core Bizes, with Potential for Synergistic Value
Morgan Stanley released a research report on BABa's announcement of personnel changes. Under which, the Group CEO and Chairman of Taobao & Tmall Group, Eddie Wu, will replace Trudy Dai and concurrently act as CEO of Taobao & Tmall Group, whereas Dai will help to set up Alibaba Group Asset Management Company, which will be a new business function of Alibaba after the overhaul
Wu was expected to coordinate the two core businesses, Taobao & Tmall and Alibaba Cloud, with the potential for synergistic value. Morgan Stanley rated Equalweight on Alibaba with a target price of US$90.
The broker added that Alibaba's establishment of a new asset management company is primed to continuously optimize the return on capital and enhance shareholder value, echoing the monetization and reduction plans for non-core assets mentioned in the group's 2FQ results.
According to the broker, Alibaba's non-core assets may include US$67 billion worth of investments on its balance sheet, as well as a number of its sub-businesses, including SUNART RETAIL , Fliggy and DingTalk.

Jefferies: BABA Unlocks Synergies, Values after Strategic Goals Established
BABA'S CEO, and Chairman of Taobao and Tmall Group, Eddie Yongming Wu, will take over the role of CEO of Taobao and Tmall Group. It was expected that Taobao and Tmall and Alibaba Cloud will be able to further unlock synergies and promote AI innovation under his leadership, according to a research report released by Jefferies. In addition, Trudy Dai, the former CEO of Taobao and Tmall Group, will assist in the establishment of Alibaba Group Asset Management Company.
The broker expected the group to focus on non-core asset management to increase the return on capital for shareholders. It believed that these initiatives could further unlock synergies and value as the company set three-year strategic goals for different business units.
The broker cited Alibaba's three-year plan that the Taobao and Tmall Group will have to prioritize user growth, ecosystems and AI technology, and that the company will need to invest in price competitiveness, user retention and acquisition of new users.
Alibaba Cloud, meanwhile, will focus on building the "most open cloud in the AI era"; Cainiao's three-year goal is to accelerate the development of an intelligent logistics network, strengthen cross-border e-commerce, and support international business.
In terms of local services, the three-year goal includes the use of location-based services in different businesses in both the To C and To B market segments. Jefferies rated BABA at Buy with a target price of $140.

Irgendwann wird die Stimmung drehen von "China ist der letzte Schrott. Zum Glück habe ich nicht im Portfolio davon" zu "War ja klar, dass die chinesische Regierung was tun wird und die massive Unterbewertung sich nicht so hält. Muss auch noch auf den Zug aufspringen".
Und das als Kleinanleger knallhart durchzuziehen bringt dir dann die Outperformance. Klingt immer einfacher als es ist. Das Schwierigste kommt ja erst noch, nicht seine
Gewinne frühzeitig mitzunehmen, wenn es steigt, auch wenn man froh ist endlich grün zu sein.

Eine Jahresliste kann man einmal für's nächste Jahr ändern. Barron's ist nicht irgendein X-beliebiges Käseblatt auf Aktionärs-Niveau sondern wie gesagt unter Börsianern in den USA prominent vertreten. Bewegt oftmals Kurse in den USA. Z.b. wird es auch oft in der Sendung von Markus Koch erwähnt. Die Performance der Top10 Picks wurde ausgewertet und kam auf einen sehr guten Track Record.
Aber ich gebe dir Recht, dass man solche Listen auch nicht überbewerten soll. Wenn 6 Werte gut laufen und davon 4 schlecht, könnte es z.B. sein dass man den SP500 leicht schlägt. Oder ein Jahr ihn mal nicht schlägt... Oder in Zukunft gar nicht mehr... usw.
Was ich für mich persönlich daraus ableite:
Erstaunlich viele haben wieder ein positiveres Bild von China. Ich habe mir einige Forecasts zu 2024 angeschaut und nicht wenig gehen davon aus, dass China auf dem tiefen Niveau einen Rebound erleben könnte. Alibaba wäre hier sehr gut positioniert was viele Analysten bestätigen.
Die Stimmung hellt sich meiner Meinung nach etwas auf. Überträgt sich nicht direkt auf die Kurse.
Aber wenn mal Wirtschaft mehr anziehen sollte, das ganze noch mit positiven Zahlen gefüttert wird, der Narrativ wieder etwas dreht, könnte schon einiges an Upside drin sein. Downside wurde dagegen schon sehr viel eingepreist. Dies meine optimistische Ansicht als Alibaba-Aktionär 😊

Alibaba wurde übrigens von Barren's dem grössten Anlegermagazin in die Top 10 Picks für 2024 gewählt. Barron's hat in den USA in Anlegerkreise einen relativ hohen Stellenwert und die Top 10 Picks waren in den Vergangenheit unter dem Strich relativ gut, hätten sogar den SP500 geschlagen. Mal schauen, denke ja dass Alibaba noch einige Zeit sich in der Seitwärtsbewegung sich befinden wird. Ob sie bereits 2024 da ausbrechen kann? Weiss natürlich niemand.
Solche listen sind vollkommen blödsinnig. Die ändern die Meinung so oft wie andere ihre Unterwäsche wechseln
